I’ve been taking a photography class, and wanted to share one of my favorite shots with you.
I’ve been playing with my camera and decided to share some of my In Progress Weaving.

The warp is a varigated Tencel and he Weft (purple stuff) is Cashmere. It’s a kit from Just Our Yarns that I purchased at Madrona this year.
I know my poor blog has been greatly neglected as of late. I promise there has been fibery stuff going on, but I have to find some time to take pics of the new wheel…or is it wheels at this point, yes 2 new wheels since I’ve last posted. A few skeins of yarn and very little progress on getting any thing done, but I’m getting close on my Shipwreck Shawl, and I will make every effort to get pics and even post
.
Gotta run, but I will try and get back here sometime soon.
Ok, so I played, I cast on 1 project a day for the last 7 days….you really don’t know how hard that can be until you find yourself deciding between the last project you cast on and casting on a new one. Not sure that I’ll ever try that again, not saying that I won’t cast on 7 projects in 7 days, just not sure if I’ll actually set a goal to do it
.

I have finally finished something….a very tiny pair of socks, for co-workers baby, see quarter for sizing
. I cast these on forever ago, but have only been working on them during meetings at work…well at least the ones I was passively involved in, seems like most of my meetings lately I’ve been actively involved in, which leaves little knitting time.
Yarn, who konws what it was, I certainly can’t remember…ball band…what’s that. I do know it’s superwash and it’s wool.
Needles: addy turbo’s size #0’s 2 pairs on 2 needles
Pattern: simply 2 by 2 rib

Well it’s the start of a New Year and again I cast on a sweater. Maybe I will actually finish this one this year, the one I started last year on New Year’s Day is still patiently waiting to be sewn together and for a button band. This year’s sweater? Well back when I lived in CA, I did Symbolic Knots, if you’re curious you can find it here. That sweater has seemed to have grown legs and disappeared on me, and I so loved it. So I’m doing it again sort of. Still using a Melissa Leapman pattern but this one out of her newest book, Continuous Cables, the pattern is Quick to Knit Bulky Pullover, same pattern on the front, the only real difference is this time it will have a small amount of waist shaping, where the first one didn’t.
On that note, I’ll be casting on at least 1 project a day for 6 more days, my So. Cal Knitting group is doing a group knit along and starting the new year with 7 days of casting on
. The name of this GKA is Feel like a Fl00zy GKA. If you’re of a mind to, cast on along with us, the only rule here is cast on one a day or more if you feel like it. There is no rule that says when you are expected to finish by or even that you have to finish. Oh yeah, I forgot the one other rule have FUN. This is guilt free casting on to start the New Year.
Who ordered snow? Better question, who ordered it in time to interfere with my Wednesday knitting! I tried, got out of the garage, and found i was driving on 2″ of the stuff and it was still falling from the sky, still is, last I checked. Needless to say I didn’t make it to knitting. I did make it to the mailbox to find one of our neighbors, had just spent the last 45 minutes driving the last 3.5 miles to our complex. Glad I didn’t make it to knitting, as I like spending the night at home and not in my Highlander.
For the person that ordered the snow, couldn’t you have ordered it for 9:30 pst, so I could have actually made it to knitting?
Proof that I actually do some weaving.

Loom: Schacht Flip Rigid Heddle
Reed: 10 dpi
Yarn: Yarn Pirate - Icicle – Merino Tencel from the Yarn Pirate Booty Club.
I thought about doing a lacier pattern with this, but in the end went with a plain weave, and the colors worked out beautifully. Used the yarn for both warp and weft and just went the flow. Took a few nights in front of the TV, once I got the warp on
.

Yes there really has been spinning going on around here. Opps knitters are having a Halloween KAL, so I thought I’d join the fun. I’m thinking some generic fingerless mitts for this yarn. Eastside Spinners is having a use your handspun SAL/KAL. So I’m killing 2 birds with one stone with this one
.

Curiosity got the best of me and as it happens I have a Fricke Woolee Winder. So I tossed on my pipe to make the bobbin fit, then I tossed on the Woolee Winder (WW) and it didn’t want to work. The flyer was too far from the bobbin for the gears to mesh. I sent DH to the Hardware Store one day on a mission, while I was off at a spin in, to find me 2 things, another pipe, same size as the one I already had but shorter, if we had to cut it down, well we could do that and to find me a screw, identical to the one in my WW, he found the screw, but not the pipe. So off went an email to Doug, maker of the Pocket Wheel to find out where he bought his pipes….he bought them locally, which is not so local for me, about an hour and a half north of me as a matter of fact. He send me a pipe, 4.5″, and I got it in the mail today. I tossed that on there, then the WW with the longer screw and started spinning, worked for about 2 min, then the WW lost it’s grip and stop flying.
HMMMMM, now what. I rememered something from a Ravelry thread about pipe/plumbers tape, it was a Matchless thread to help with clacking as the whorls got older, they loosen up. Guess what, there was some in my spinning kit, perfect, wrapped that around several times, wanted to add a little “cushion” on there screwed the flyer back on, and yes, I now have a WW that works on my Pocket Wheel
, and it spins great, I can’t even feel the added weight of the flyer as I do with some of my other wheels.

Well, DH and I decided to take off for Pasadena for a week, and silly me, I keep forgetting to take pics, but there has been plenty of knitting and spinning, as I’ve spent quite a bit of time with mah Knitta’s the last couple of days.

See progress, this just had the back down to the arms when i left Seattle, but now, well it’s a front and a back down to the sleeves, collar is done, and i’m an inch or so below the underarm.
We’re hitting the road again today, to head up for Canby Oregon, to go to OFFF, I’m taking a day long spinning class on Sunday and want to get some shopping time in tomorrow, can’t go to a fiber festival without doing some shopping now can I. Right now we’re sitting at a Toyota dealer, no I didn’t break my truck yet, but I did manage to pick up a screw on our trip down to San Diego yesterday, once that’s done we’ll be on our way.
I’ll regale you with my pictureless rendtion of my knitterly exploits later. Thanks again to TC Marie for a wonderful time this week, and I love the house and you will finish with all the rest of those boxes soon.
