Let’s start with Friday’s visit from the UPS guy. He brought me a box from Knit Happens and look what was in that box.

Some Jade Company Mongolian Cashmere in a lovely lilac ( 6 skeins to be exact) and some Touch Me in “Burgundy Cream”, it really does look that purple in person (5 balls) I’m pleasantly surprised that the color of the Touch me is more purple than burgundy, I expected more burgundy, but really wanted the purple.

So Saturday morning, I beat the sun up and started knitting The Wool Peddlers Triangle purse for the Knit Off, and got of to a bad start. Apparently, I really can’t follow a pattern in my sleep. So I left for the Domino Knitting class secure in the knowledge that I had completed the 2 side triangles, but we’ll get back to that in a little bit, since before I made that discovery came the class.

Domino Knitting taught by Susanna Hansson. by the time I got to her class, I had been knitting for 4 hours already. I’m not going to show you my practice piece, because it was just that…Practice. It was a fun class, and passed quite quickly. I ended up leaving with 4 balls of Kid Silk Haze in colors I would not normally knit with, but Project Spectrum is represented in my color choices.

Class was 7 hours long and by the time I got home I had already been awake for 12 hours after only having 3 hours sleep the night before, what was I thinking! I looked at the pattern for the Knit Off again, and looked at my triangles, I had increased all the way down one side, but not down the other on both side triangles and the triangle at the start of the body piece. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPP!

I only ripped the body, piece and came up with a creative use for the 2 triangles. More on that later.

Sunday morning, I was up again, bright and early to do some more mad knitting before heading out to meet up with some friends for some fiber fun.

I met Sachi at Village Yarn and Tea, and she introduced me to Libby and Christina (<strike>They both have blogs, but I have yet check with Sachi to see if I have the right ones in my side bar. Sachi if you’re reading this can you let me know *giggle*</strike>. Thanks for the links Sachi1) We wandered around the store, and look what followed me home.

from Yarn Pirate a lovely skein of merino sock yarn, color way is Isobel.

There was this ball of Merino/Tussah Silk roving too.

More Sensational Knitted socks made it’s way into my arms as well.

I’m such a bad blogger, I forgot to bring my camera, hopfully Sachi will post some pics in the next few days, she did get some pics, I know, I saw her do it.

So the 4 of us decided to sit and have some tea and knit for a bit.

Look at the lovely stitch Markers Sachi gave me.

They really are lovely, but I can’t do them justice. Using a flash washes them out even on the black background, and not using a flash make sthem blurry, you see this is Seattle, it’s way overcast and threatening to rain, so no real good natural light.

Off we went To Acorn Street, to get a blocking board, for guesswho, Sachi. I was actually good there, I only bought the new Spin Off magazine and Domino Knitting (the Japanese version)

Then we went to grab a late lunch early dinner because Weaving Works had closed by the time we finished at Acorn Street. It was getting late by the time we were done stuffing our faces, and some of us had a ways to go to get home, so we decided to call it a day.

After a small detour to Fiber Gallery to see if they had the Addi Lace in any #2′s and #3 in anything shorter than 47″ (they didn’t) I headed home and back to my marathon knitting session. And now we finally get to the FO

Pattern: The Wool Peddlers Triangle purse

Yarn: Katia – Jamaica (100% Cotton (219 yards)Colorway – 4009 , it’s the same yarn I used for the last Knit Off pattern, but it does pay tribute to Project Spectrum)

Needles: Addi Turbo #6

Button: I got creative, did a figure 8 wrap loop thingy on my finger double starnded. Folded the figure 8 in half, then wrapped the yarn around the circle, like you would for pompom’s but I didn’t cut it and voila a matched button closure.

Remember I mention the 2 triangles I knitted wrong, well those 2 didn’t get ripped, they got incorporated right back into the pattern for a bit of creative knitting on the other side of the purse, see where the pink and purple don’t match up, those are my mis starts. So it wasn’t a total waste of knitting time.

This last weekend was insane, but you know what, I had a blast. I knit a purse with a lot of pink, those who know me, I don’t like pink, and yes, I actually do like this purse, will I use it, probably not, I’ll give it away after I wash it and throw on another I-cord to give it a sturdier handle. Set too much money, learned Domino Knitting and met some knew knitting/spinning friends. All in all a great weekend.

I’m still waiting for the background check to clear so I can start my new job. In the mean time, back to my regularly scheduled knitting plus 1 Domino Scarf.

I just got an email saying that I did make it to Round 3 of the Knit off. Don’t know how I managed that but apparently the time stamps on the email proved me to be the winner of the round, though I was certain I didn’t win it.

Now because I didn’t think I won, I signed up for a day long class on the first day of Round 3. It’s a knitting class that I really want to take, so I’m going to go to it, so we’ll see how well I can knit around the class, it starts at 10:30 and goes until 5:30. I can get up early and knit before, and knit all night after if need be. I will do my best not to let my cheerleaders down. I’m going to need 360 yards of DK weight yarn, so we’ll see just how fast I can knit it up, it’s going to take more than a day i’m thinking even if I didn’t have a class that day.

It’s not likely that I actually won this round of the Knit Off and more than likely I’m out of it. My alarm clock failed me this morning! By the time I got up and checked for the pattern it was almost noon, and I rarely sleep past 7 am. Knitting time on this one was a healthy 3 hour and 30 some odd minutes.

Pattern: France – Doily A

Yarn Katia – Jamaica (100% Cotton (219 yards)Colorway – 4009 (purple, white and pink verigated, so that’s where the striping comes from. I used about 75% of the ball.

Needles: Brittany #6 DPN’s, Addi Turbos #6, Susan Bates Crochet Hook size G.

Mods and thoughts: I’ve never knitted a doily before, since I’ve been crocheting them since I was 5. This was an interesting experience, I may even do it again, well more likely, I may knit a shawl in the round. For the bind off, some habits die hard, the pattern called for a straight cast off, the Knit Off called for 3 rounds to finish it. I played by the rules of the Knit Off did 1 more round of purls after row 40, took that crochet hook did a round of single stitch, then s1, ch3, s1 and called it done.

This is going to be a face cloth, whether it finds it home here or with some one else has yet to be decided.

Back to the rest of my knitting.

I really couldn’t help it, I didn’t mean to buy it. Heck, I didn’t even mean to walk into my LYS. I was out mailing packages, who knew the Post Office was just around the corner from my LYS. I sure didn’t until I got there. So I mailed off my packages, got in the car, and the next thing I new the car had driven to the LYS. Who am I to argue with my car, if I’m nice to it, it’ll keep being nice to me and take me to places with pretty fiber and stuff. On a good note I didn’t buy any yarn. But this Namaste did follow me home. Inside it’s split into 2 sections, one is zippered, and lots of smaller pockets. It’s a happy project tote, oh and it really thinks it’s adorable (don’t let it know, but I think it’s adorable too, lucky for me it can’t read)

DH’s sweater was all over it. See it’s getting somewhere, it’s a bit resentful of me having taken a break from it to finish off the socks for the SAM KAL 3 and jealous of all the attention given to the scarf for the Knit Off, but it’s whipping itself into shape.

Speaking of the Knit Off, it’s official, I’m in Round 2. Instead of the 99 people being broken out in to 16 groups this round is head to head, one to one, mano a mano. The competition is getting stiffer, there are only 16 knitters this round, and you have to beat the 1 you are paired off with.

Pattern: Uniscarfity

Yarn: Frog Tree 100% Merino Wool (50 grams/137 yards) 1 ball black, 1 gray.

Needles: Addy Turbo’s #6.

Once I got out my frustrations in yesterday’s post this became much easier to knit. Guess I really did need to vent.

Will I knit this scarf again? Maybe. This one is quite short, I knit to the minum 72 repeats of the CC for the contest bound it off and called it done. It’s maybe 30″. I may just felt it and give it to the cats…or give it to one of the babies/toddlers in my life. Hmmm, we’ll have to think about that a bit.

While it’s not official yet, I’m fairly sure I’m the first person in my group to finish, so I think I’ll be off to Round 2 which is slated to start on the 17th. There were 9 out fo 16 scarves finished before mine, so we’ll see how long I last in round 2. I’m not a speedy knitter, though some may say differently, I just knit a lot, and I mean a LOT.

Back to DH’s sweater, you know the one I bought the yarn in time for to do as a Christmas gift, got side tracked and decided it would be a B-day give (that was a month ago) got side tracked again and now it’ll be a give when it’s done, what ever the occasion, or lack thereof.

I went to a trunk show at one of my LYS’s, VYT this one down the street from Mom and Dad’s house. Yarn Pirate had her first trunk show.

So I get there, and there is a table full of wonderful yarn, well ok, the shop is full of wonderful yarn too, but it was the booty I was after. I hear someone say you have to take a number, ok, I’ll play, I got #10 and was told there was a 2 skein limit. Ummm, that simply wasn’t what I wanted to hear, Knit Devil had asked me to see if she had 2 skeins of Primrose and mehitabel had asked me to buy her 2 skeins of the Village colorway. That’s already 2 more skeins than the limit. Ok, easy fix here, I sent them both an email from my phone and told them they were out of luck, I’m being selfish.

I get my 2 skeins, the last 2 of the Village and pay for them. Knit Devil had already told Yarn Pirate that I was going to be there, and I acutally not only rememembered to bring my camera, but I remembered that I had it while I was there, I guess miricles do happen. So I went to say Hi and introduce myself to Yarn Pirate and get a picture, see I really was there, and of course that skein of yarn just jumped into my hand, ok, Yarn Pirate helped it a bit.

After this, as I was getting ready to leave, what do I hear… “All numbers have been called, there are no more limits on the yarn”. My heart skipped a beat and I had to be sure that I had just heard what I heard right. I asked, it was right. What happened next is a bit of a blur, like this picture my camera took all by itself.

Yup, your guess is as good as mine, but I think it’s a cool picture.

Ok, now I’m sure you really want to see the good stuff, so enough dithering.

From right to left. Village (VYT’s shop colors), Blackwater (named in honor of Yarn Pirate’s Daddy), Rosie, Inferno (the very skein in the pic with me an Yarn Pirate, it was good enough to pose for a pic, so it came home with me), Bitter Valley, and last but certainly not least Crocus.

My 2 favorites are Village and Blackwater, I got 2 skeins of both of those. 2 each of Rosie and Bitter Valley as well. There was only one skein of Crocus, but I assure you had there been another I would have left the store with 11 skeins and not 10. And the lovely skein of Inferno, I think it liked having it’s picture taken.

The knitting has commenced. The pattern for the ’07 Knit off is Uniscarfity
from MagKnits.
