I went downtown Seattle before knitting last weekend, went up a 10 story garage and took this lovely shot up 1st avenue. The cars and the people are all heading for a Sounders FC game about half a mile south of where I was at. note to self: check sports schedules before deciding to go downtown on a Saturday morning.

No! Surprising myself, I think I may have actually overcommited for the holiday.

Granted, 5 pairs of clog are felted and the last are drying before they get their helping of puffy paint.

Celtic Tote, done and felted last night.

2 Tomten jackets, well the body and hoods are done on both, one sleeve and 1/4 of the other sleeve on one, and the other has no sleeves yet!

The Jane Origami Sweater to wear, no progress what-so-ever. The back is done, and one of the sleeves started, that’s it, no where near remotely wearable.

I did get a bit fed up with knitting last night, so I spun for hours, now I have bobbins to ply, good thing I’m taking most of next week off, that’ll give me time to catch up with some much <strike>needed</strike> <strike>wanted</strike> craved for spinning.

Oh did I mention I got the bestest complient ever in email? Remember the Tulip Jacket and the BSJ? They went to their new home a few weeks back, and I got this thank you note in my email:

I just wanted to send you a note to thank you for your beautiful knitting. The sweaters are adorable! My husband, who just isn’t that interested in baby clothes (not a big surprise) saw the sweaters and said, “Now, those are special.”

Really, they are just wonderful! Thanks!

That’s what makes knitting gifts worth it.

Oh yeah, we had an early holiday celebration Sunday night, since my brother and his GF are going to be out of town with her family this year for the holidays. Baby Bro loved his felted clogs, he threw them on as soon as he got them unwrapped, and was still wearing them when we left. His GF, well she got the Angora Magic Beret I knit last February, yes I did some of my holiday knitting very very early this year, and when they broke up I thought now what am I going to do with this. Well they got back together not even 2 months after they broke up. Anyway, she loves hats and i mean loves them, she put it on as soon as it was unwrapped, and she was still wearing it when we left, in the living room, it wasn’t even cold in there, she just loved it.

Pics to come after all the gifting is done, well at least pics of things I haven’t posted yet, I do have a couple at home on my camera just raring to be posted, so maybe I’ll sneak a pic or 2 in before then.

Yup, that’s me I’m a bad blogger. I even had my point and shoot camera with me all weekend. Did I point and shoot, nope. Did the camera even manage to get any pictures, well ok, it did get one or 2 of Libby’s MPH, but did those make it off my camera…nope, I think it’s holding the pic hostage, since I rarely use it since I got my fancy dancy camera.

Friday, DH and I went out to hang out with some of my work friends. DH approves of my friends . He even had a good time, most of the time he likes my friends and tolerates them, but doesn’t want to hang out with them, we have very different tastes, and yet we’ve been together for 8 years and married for 7, go figure.

Saturday, we went to my parents house to celebrate my Dad’s B-day – Happy belated Dad! Lots of food, good company etc etc. I even did a drop spindle demo for the family, everyone was impressed. There are some newish knitters in the group, so there was WIP showing off and some mini lessons. Did I take a picture, not a one.

Sunday, BBQ at Christina’s. See her husband is in the Navy, and is getting transferred next month, so Christina will no longer be a local knitter. We’ll miss her when we have our little get togethers. She’s only moving a state away this time, instead of cross the country, so maybe we’ll be able to all pile into a car and go visit her in her new place, we’ll see. Sachi, decided to bring a petting basket from her store, and damned if some of her fiber didn’t come home with me. Go on I know you really want to go check it out, Sachi’s Purls, I’ll wait. Yes I know I’ll get some pics, I’d show you in her store, but it seems I happened to buy her out. I know she brought it intentionally, she knows I’ve had my eye on it since she posted it, but she’ll deny it until the sheep come home.

Oh and I finished Sahara last night, just need to weave the ends in, yes I’ll post pics. With the casting off of Sahara and having it fit, my knitting mojo has at last found it’s way back to me again.

How was your weekend?

It’s a Bagsket, hot off my sewing machine. Thanks to Foofanagle for the idea, she had help, go check out the tutorial for directions on how to make one yourself and see who all contributed to this idea . I did make some minor modifications, I used Fusable interfacing which worked great, and also brought it up to 9.5″, and used a plastic needle point thingy in addition to the fusing at on the base but that’s about it.

Clue one for the Mystery Stole 3 is coming along, hopefully I’ll have pics of that for you tomorrow or maybe Thursday, all depends on how tomorrow shakes out.

On one last thing, for those that are local, a small group of us are gathering at the Seattle Center this Sunday around noonish at the Space Needle, to do a bit of spinning, knitting or craft of your choice, everyone’s welcome to join us. Even if you’re not local you’re still welcome to join us, if you can make it. Weather permitting we’ll be finding a spot outside, if the weather doesn’t play and drives us inside, we’ll be in the food pavilion.

This is in “training” for a future project, which I am waiting for the yarn to come in to one of my LYS’s, (it’s been ordered so the dye lots match). There was one issue in the pattern, but it was easy enough to figure out, just one place where they had the same color listed in a 2 color row. This will go into my Christmas pile for next year, it will look great on my bro’s GF next winter.

DH’s sweater has come to this, a ball of yarn and it’s back to the ribbing. I screwed up the pattern again, and this time it couldn’t be <strike>fudged</strike> fixed. I forgot 4 rows in the cable crossings, yet I continued on, got up to 3/4′s of the back done, then discovered there was no way I could get the pattern to fit DH, to keep going the way I was going would have put a cable crossing right at the shoulder, which is not what I want. So out came be baller, and the back was ripped. I did make one alteration in casting it on again, I’m going to knit the fron and back as one piece and split it for the sleeves. So far I have the ribbing done *sigh*

I finished the cabled yarn. 2nd picture has a dime to show the gauge, I haven’t checked the WPI’s yet, but this should make a lovely scarf.

Next I’ll be picking up the outside edge so I can start the body.

Oh I found out to day that one of my LYS’s, Village Yarn and Tea, will be having a special guest this Friday night at their next Knit Knight. A local artist will be having a Trunk Show, and I do believe I will be there and most likely spending some more money, they’re hosting Yarn Pirate’s first trunk show.
