Wow, I’m actually posting this on a Wednesday, with the way the week is going I’m surprised. With a 3 day weekend and a shortened work week, I’m feeling a bit like I need a do-over week. It’s reflecting itself on the knitting front too. While there was an FO, the Kauni sweater got frogged, I simply wasn’t happy with the way the corrugated ribbing turned out. I did cast it on and try again, this time thrwong the knits, and using continental for the purls, so they would wrap tighter, and I’m still not happy with it. So now I’m just going with a plain ribbing, in one color. I’ll likely cast it on again this weekend.

So in the works this week:

a pair of socks – Marilinda Socks, pattern by Cookie A designed for Sout’s Swag club

a shawl – Wings of Fantasy shawl

a shrug – the same one that I’ve been working on for a while now, I’m down past the arms, so it should get done anyweek now.

Dad’s Golf shirt, is still in the works, it just didn’t make it out the door this morning, and neither did Clapotis, or the 2 scarves from my own hand spun.

There was another FO, just a small one, that I couldn’t post about since it was heading down to Madgik She got it safe and sound, you can see a pic here.

Stats:

Pattern: Sit-ster in Natural knits

Yarn: my very own hand spun

Needles: Options #2 and #3 dpns

Last Saturday, Libby, Christina, Christina’s Grandma (Sorry Grandma, I didn’t get a pic of you, but your pink afghan managed to sneak a toe in) and Libby’s son MHP, all met at Village Yarn and Tea to do some knitting, and even better I remembered not only to bring a camera, but to actually use it.

There’s Christina taking a picture of me taking a picture, not intentional, one or both of us were probably to busy laughing to notice, Libby and there is MHP playing with his cool little cars.

Another attempt at a picture from a different angle, and MHP decided to help, he was showing me one of his cars, it’s all good.

One last shot, we’re still laughing about MHP helping frame the pic, but there we are.

Village Yarn and Tea is a great place to knit, they have a seating area where we can enjoy tea nd chat and knit. Now when you need a break from knitting, temptation is close at hand. On the other side of those shelves full of tea goodness, is another seating area and shelves full of knitting books and patterns. and in the 2nd picture you can see some of the tempting yarny goodness just calling to you. Great place to sit and knit and visit, but the temptation is just a bit much. I know I left with more than I came with, I have 3 receipts to prove it. First trip was some roving, 2nd trip, I really needed stitch markers because I was casting on another sweater with eleventy bagillion sts, and the last trip, well it is a yarn store afterall….more about that in another post.

Got home from work Friday night and there was a pink notice on my door. Come to the USPS and pick up your package. Look what I found.

Ok, so there were 6 skeins, but only in 3 colors. Kuani yarn.

It didn’t take me long to wind 2 of those bad boys up into 2 ginormous yarn cakes, they barely fit on the normal ball winder, next time around, I bring out the big guns. Yes, that’s what I cast on Saturday afternoon, ripped and cast on again on Sunday Morning, my stitch count was off, even with the help of the markers.

As for last night, the Kuani Sweater was all I knit on Wed night, I have a feeling it will be occupying my attention for a while. No I haven’t fallen of the MS3 bandwagon, I’m just about half way through Clue 6 and still aiming to finish it this weekend.

Dad’s Golf Shirt - weee – a whole inch done in the last week, but I’m working on it, and it’s not being relegated to the land of time out.

Sahara – Hem is done, sleeves are done, working on the neck line, 2 rows out of 12 done there, so hopefully I’ll have an FO before the week is out.

The 2 scarves are down to 1. We went to the Seattle Street of Dreams this last weekend, and I got quite a bit done, a whole 10 inches, then discovered that while I was walking and knitting I somehow managed to turn my 31 stitch count into a 51 stitch count, so it got frogged, and I cast it back on, so there is an inch done on it now, but it’s sitting in time out. The other one is still a work in progress, I’ll finish it some day, but until then it’ll go with me to knitting so it doesn’t end up in time out.

Clapotis -still in time out in favor of finishing Sahara

MS3 is stalled near the end of clue 5, maybe this weekend I’ll finish clue 5 and start clue 6. Clue 7 (the final clue) is out this Friday, I’m hoping to finish it by the end of the month, we’ll see what happens.

Oh I fell off the wagon last night, no I wasn’t intentionally buying yarn, it just kind of happened that way, but I found a deal at Ben Franklin, they had Berroco Ultra Silk at 70% off, that’s $3.00 a ball people, how could I resist, of course I had to buy enough for a sweater. Ok, so I bought enough for a shrug too. I really do enjoy knitting with it. A few balls for Crystal Palace Shimmer followed me home at $2.00 a ball.

No new projects this week. I’ve been good and haven’t started anything new.

Going to knitting with me is:

Dad’s Golf Shirt - 0 progress, well ok, so I knit 4 rows on it, so it may as well be 0 progress

Sahara – Definate progress here, I’ve finished the body, and am knitting the Hem. I’ll prolly finish the hem at knitting tonight and start on the neckline or the cuff, I’m knitting this sleeveless.

2 scarves, yes I did say scarves. Not my usual fair, but I’m knitting some of my own handspun and don’t have enough for much more than scarves from these 2 skeins.

Clapotis – don’t know if I’m ready to unstall her, but we’ll see what happens.

No news in the spinning department but tomorrow is Spinning Nite, so I’ll get quite a bit done there.

No weaving this week.

MS3 is chugging along, I’m half way through the first chart of Clue 5.

My spinnning and knitting mojo have taken a brief vacation and progress on anything this week has been pathetic at best. Spending more time on the computer than anything else, which is odd for me, since I really don’t spend much time on the computer when I’m home after staring at a computer screen all day long.

In other news:

MS3 stalled for a week, but I’m working on catching up, hopefully this weekend. I’m half way through the ginormous Clue 4, well at least it looks like half way through clue 4, so I’ll catch up before Clue 6…i think.

Clapotis has stalled along with all the socks I have OTN.

I did manage to get a little weaving in this week, so my weaving is no longer on the stalled list, but that’s not likely to last for long.

Spinning, yes I am spinning, learned Navajo plying last week, so I’ll have to get some pics posted of my latest handspun.

Wednesday is knit night, so typically what ever is in the works goes with me to knitting, now I say typically because that could change at a moment’s notice and on a whim, like if I’m pushing a deadline and need to get something knit up fast. So here’s what’s in the bag du jour, by the way it’s a Large Purple Go-Knit Pouch.

Mystery Stole 3(beads and crochet hook too), yes I’m deluding myself thinking I’ll actually get anywhere without having to tink or rip back because I’m KIP’ing..

Dad’s Golf Shirt – making progress 2 more inches and I’ll split for the placket

Sahara – I’m still only about 2″ below the join, progress isn’t progressing as fast as when I was reading HP7, so we’ll see how long it takes.

Clapotis – Yarn Pirates Village colorway, specially dyed for one of my LYS’s – Village Yarn and Tea

One of the bobbins from my Lendrum and the yarn I use for leaders, helping out a new spinner by showing her how I put my leaders on a bobbin.

My Knit Picks Chart Keeper. Can’t forget that, essential tool when knitting from charts. It holds the patterns nicely. I am using Highlighter Tapethat I got from The Knit Foundry to keep my place instead of the magnets, but let’s face it when you make your charting portable, the Highlighter Tape works much better than magnets for not slipping somewhere else on the pattern.

A drop spindle, don’t leave home without it.

Oh and last but not least my tool pouch, I’ll go further than that at some other point.

Do I really need to bring that much with me to knitting? Probably not.

Will I actually knit on all those projects tonight? There’s always a possibility, one can hope.
